Guesthouse 'La Boubania'
The region

Avdela is one of the five villages called Vlachochoria in eastern Pindos. These villages are 1200 m above sea level and they are true eyries. They are characterised for the use of the Latin parlance. Avdela, 1300 m above sea level, used to be the most lively village. Its residents were well known muleteers and the cattle breeders exploited the vast grassland. Wood industry also developed there since there are many forests in the village.

Nowadays, Avdela is a fine resort and in summer it is packed with the cattle breeders that return with their flocks from the winter quarters of Thessalia. The Manakias brothers came from this village, the pioneers of the photographic and cinema art in the Balkans (thousands of pictures of historic events and 70 movies).

It is worth visiting Avdela and revelling until dawn in the feasts of Sotira, Agia Triada and Panagia on 15th August where local dancing and feasts with traditional local songs take place. In Avdela you will find for your residence the guesthouse La Boubania that promises unforgettable holidays in a family environment with high quality service.
